Hathor The Sky-goddess , Lady of the House of Jubilation,

The meaning of Hathor is "House of Horus"


Hathor was an Ancient Egyptian goddess who personified the principles of love, beauty, music, motherhood and joy. She was one of the most important and popular deities throughout the history of Ancient Egypt.She was a goddess of many things . Hathor was worshiped by Royalty and common people .

They believed  that she was "Mistress of the West" welcoming the dead into the next life.In other roles she was a goddess of music, dance, foreign lands and fertility who helped women in childbirth,as well as the patron goddess of miners.


Hathor also became associated with the menat, the turquoise musical necklace often worn by women.
Hathor had become a goddess of joy, and so she was deeply loved by the general population, and truly respected by women, who wanted to embody her multifaceted role as wife, mother, and lover.

* Hathor was commonly depicted as a cow goddess with head horns in which is set a sun disk with Uraeus.
[The Uraeus  is the stylized, upright form of an Egyptian spitting cobra used as a symbol of sovereignty, royalty, deity, and divine authority in ancient Egypt.]
* Twin feathers are also sometimes shown in later periods as well as a menat necklace.
* Hathor was pictured as a woman with cow's horns with the sun between them (giving her the title of 'Golden One'), or as a beautiful woman with cow's ears, or a cow wearing the sun disk between her horns, or even as a lioness or a lion-headed woman showing her destructive side. It was only in later Egyptian history that she was shown as a woman with the head of a cow.
